Mindful

Smaller with every hit we take,
Unworthy of the touch I forsake.
Here I am, once again;
Questioning; were we believers?
Consuming shame like bread and Graces,
Reliant on our cages.
A sob escapes my lips;
A whisper of your name,
But I refuse the blame.
You turn away, repulsed.

Hurting with every word we save,
Left only with the memories we made.
Here I am, once again;
Questioning; did I let you go?
Choking on the smog of hatred,
My thoughts so jaded.
We lost our faith in silence;
A lament of our love,
But I rise above.
Our future now, re-separate.

Wounded with each word we cry,
Once dependant on your persuasive lie.
Here I am, once again;
Questioning; why was it so easy?
Living without this judgement
No-one summoned.
A journey of learning;
Finding love in the rain,
Freeing myself of pain.
I walk away, released.

This is late on my blog due to it having been a submission. While the rejection was polite and complimentary, I haven’t yet found it a home.Decided it had been stuck in a folder long enough, and so I’m placing it here.
